Vinegar
Posted on 01.30.17 by itscrazydelicious @

I love vinegar – not only to clean counters with but also to clean my fruits and veggies with. I am not going to waste my money buying special and probably toxic veggie washes when I can just use vinegar. And people may think that vinegar is going to make everything stink but you can not even smell it once you spray it on and then rinse it off. It is a cheap and very effective way to clean everything!

Gas vs. Electric Grills
Posted on 07.12.11 by itscrazydelicious @

I have always had a gas grill and my grandfather has always had electric grills while my father loves to have the old fashioned charcoal grill. There is something to be said about each of them…electric grills are by far the easiest however I love having hamburgers on the charcoal grills. I guess it is all in what you like but now is the time to get your favorite one because the weather is great and it is definately barbeque weather these days. And be sure to throw some shrimp kabob’s on the grill too…yum!

Coconut Oil
Posted on 02.25.11 by itscrazydelicious @

I am a huge fan of coconut oil. It is so much better to fry with and it doesn’t smoke like other oils. And it is so much more healthy for you. Try replacing 1/2 of the butter you melt on your popcorn with coconut oil…so good. And I had coconut oil so it doesn’t taste like coconut.

Olive Oil
Posted on 02.21.10 by itscrazydelicious @

I just love cooking with olive oil. And it is just so much better than the vegetable oil. And I don’t know about you but have you found that the price of vegetable oil has gone up quite a bit in the last few months. It is fine though because I have been using the other oils. Like the canola oil – that is very good too. I really do not notice a difference in taste either. I mean some recipes I don’t change it because I am not familiar enough with them but for the most part I am trying to limit my vegetable oil intake!

Grease Your Pan
Posted on 10.10.09 by itscrazydelicious @

When you go to make something sometimes it says that you should grease your pan. You do not have to go out and get all the fanny greasers in the spray bottles..however it is easier and less messy. But you can just use butter. That is what I use and it does the trick. Just cut a little piece of butter and spread it on with a paper towel…simple as that.

Add some Cinnamon to your Dishes
Posted on 08.22.09 by itscrazydelicious @

If you are going to add some cinnamon tot your dishes then makd sure that it is the real thing. Cassia Cinnamon is what you usually see in the stores but it has a high coumerin count so you should try to get Ceylon Cinnamon..it is much better for you and cinnamon is a great seasoning that is perfect for a variety of dishes. Sprinkle some in your next dish!

Forget the Food Dye
Posted on 06.27.09 by itscrazydelicious @

Sure working with food dye can be fun and makes a thing you are making so much nicer looking but what is it doing for your health. Food dye is just so terrible for you and if you are a baker and work alot with it then be sure to wear gloves But the dye can get in your skin and in your system. It really is unnecissary even though it makes things look really nice.

Bread on Cookies
Posted on 05.27.09 by itscrazydelicious @

When ever I make fresh home made cookies I always put a piece of bread on the top in the cookie jar that I put them in. The bread will keep your delicious cookies moist and sweet. I never had complains about hard and crumbly cookies if I do this. Although they go pretty quick anyways 🙂

Save 1/2 Eaten Fruit
Posted on 05.15.09 by itscrazydelicious @

Sometimes you just can not finish that piece of fruit…you ran out of time to eat it or you just do not want anymore but you do not want to throw it away. No problem! Just put the uneaten fruit in a sealed jar and put a little lemon juice in it on the cut or eaten surface. It will prevent it from going brown and bad. then you have a snack for later!

Butter Instead of Oil
Posted on 05.03.09 by itscrazydelicious @

I have found that when you are baking that it is just as easy and very cost effective to just spread and wipe your pans with a litttle piece of butter instead of having to spray it and buy and extra product to have the same results. I have always done this and it works just fine and the bake goods that you are baking will not stick to the pan either which is the whole point of greasing the pan with the butter!

Only Cook With Wine You Would Drink
Posted on 11.26.08 by itscrazydelicious @

I would never cook with wine that I would not drink. Why cheap out on the wine you would cook with. It really does make a huge difference in the meal that you are making. I actually put a little wine in the basting of my turkey and every one just love my turkey. But I only use the red and white wine that I would drink at the table with it. I have used the cheap cooking wine but you can really tell the difference in the taste that is for sure!

Clean Your Cabinets
Posted on 11.20.08 by itscrazydelicious @

I always tend to drop things…alot. Make sure that if you drop liquid on your wooden drawers of cabinets then you clean it up. Otherwise they will get really dirty and grimy and it will be so much harder to clean later. I polish my cabinets so that it is relaly easy to clean up when I do drop stuff on them. And I do all the time. Same thing with the floor. I prefer linoleum so it is easy to clean up but as with anything if you do not do it right away it is harder. Cleaning just comes with the territory of cooking!!

Generic Brands
Posted on 10.22.08 by itscrazydelicious @

There are somethings you can get away with when you are doing your grocery shopping when it comes to generic brands but then there are others that you just can not do. Like ice cream…I find that it ices up way too quick but pop tarts are top on my list. You can not get the generic pop tarts because they are just so incredibly discusting in my opinion!!! Pick and choose how you are going to save you food money!

Cooking Aprons
Posted on 10.21.08 by itscrazydelicious @

I did not wear a cooking apron one day when I was making something – I had forgotten that I said I was going to make and bring something in and I had to wake up early to make it and I think I ruined my nice blouse because I got grease on it. I am thinking it will come out because I realized I did it right away so it didn’t have time to set. That is why you should just always wear those cooking aprons and they have really cute ones for chirstmas time…I think I should go and order one!

Boxed Sugar Cookies
Posted on 10.19.08 by itscrazydelicious @

Do not ever buy boxed sugar cookie mixes….I have yet to find one that I like ever. I just made the most absolutely worst sugar cookies I have ever had in my life. You take a bit and they like crumble…it is just really gross. And I was going to this week get the ones that are the refrigerated kind but they didn’t have the cookie roll and the ones they had were the break apart kind and they were like $4 – forget that!

Washer Your Hands
Posted on 10.18.08 by itscrazydelicious @

I was a little disturbed the other day and decided to right about this because sometimes you may not realize you are not doing this. If you are cooking whether it is for yourself or if it is for your family…WASH YOUR HANDS!!! My sister came home from work and offered me a sandwich and I was very grateful for this because she makes pretty good sandwiches but she didn’t wash her hands and that really bothered me. Who knows what we was doing or touching at work and then she drove home in her car and there are just germs everywhere these days!! Wash your hands before you deal with your food!

Scooping With A Spoon
Posted on 09.26.08 by itscrazydelicious @

Do not scoop your ice cream with your good spoons…you will bend them right back and besides…you can not get that great scoop to put on your cone or in your bowl. An ice cream scoop is made just for scooping ice cream so why not use it! When I was little I would always use my mom’s good spoons and I would get in big trouble. She would go to get a spoon for her soup or something and it would be completely bent all the way back!!!

Make sure that you buy a spatula expecially for icing. it will make all the differnence in the world when you are spreading it!

Rose Petals
Posted on 07.23.08 by itscrazydelicious @

Have you ever thought about putting fresh rose petals on your wedding cake. My sister in law got married and they were all over the place. Her favorite flower is the pink rose – so they had them on the tables in the bowls and even on the cake. And of course that is what the little flower girls were throwing all over the place when they went down the aisle. The thing is that flower pedals are not even full flowers so if you want quality flowers but at very affordable prices that are well below the wholesale prices then you have to check out Fifty Flowers. They have the flowers that you need for your special occasion.

Posted on 05.19.08 by itscrazydelicious @

Don’t you hate it when you are heating up something in the microwave…like the spaghetti sauce you just made the night before and it splatters all over the place..what a mess. Well, just put a coffee filter on top of it..they are microwave safe and you will eliminate having to clean up the mess afterwards!

Ice On Ice Cream
Posted on 05.06.08 by itscrazydelicious @

This actually happened to me last night. I was looking forward to having a nice bowl of ice cream and all I got was a nice bowl of ice…yuck!! It is just so annoying to find all those ice crystals on your ice cream! So after you initially open your ice cream container besure to put and store it in a sealable plastic bag – this will eliminate those ice crystals from forming! No matter what time of year it is … ice cream is always a good snack!
