Getting New Pans
Posted on 05.20.09 by itscrazydelicious @

It is always a great idea to get new pans every once in a while. Which is why I think that Walmart and places like Walmart are a great place to get these sort of kitchen supplies. It is just far easier to go out and get that new pan than to have to scrub it and you never actually get it all clean. So if you have brown and black stains on your cookie sheets then go to Walmart – I just got on for $4….can not go wrong because it cost more for the SOS pads to clean it with!

Oven Cleaner
Posted on 05.11.09 by itscrazydelicious @

I am always cleaning my oven … and oven cleaner really does work. But it also has other uses that I was very happy to find out about and use. I use a curling iron on a regular basis and if you use a curling iron as well as hair spray or some other sort of hair gel or product then you know how gross your curling iron could get. Try cleaning your curling iron with your oven cleaner. It works – my curling iron had so much residue and gook on it and now it doesn’t!

Clean Your Cuttingboard!
Posted on 04.30.09 by itscrazydelicious @

You should always clean your cutting board and the best thing to clean it with is Hydrogen Peroxide – it will definately get all of the germs and bacteria off. Just take a paper towel and just wipe it off and you will all set. If you cut chicken or meat you really need to clean it off before the next time you use it – you wouldn’t want to get salmanella poisoning because you didn’t clean it up!

Wash With Hot Water
Posted on 04.29.09 by itscrazydelicious @

My sister loves to wash with cold water and I just do not think it cleans very well. Her dishes always look cloudy and I am always telling her to wash with hot water but it hurts her hands. So here is a tip for all out there like her….invest in some really good rubber gloves and then you will not have to worry about your hands. You should be wearing gloves when you clean things anyways so you hands do not get chapped or dry especially this time of year.

Posted on 04.21.09 by itscrazydelicious @

It is very important to keep your dishes, pots and pans clean. So that also means that you really want to make sure that you keep your dishwasher clean as well! You can go out and spen $10 on a little thing of rinse aid which is great stuff but sometimes you just do not have that extra cash. Try a packet of lemonade flavored Kool Aid in the soap drawer and then run your empty dishwasher in a hot water cycle. It should make it white, clean and sparkly!!

Just spray a little cooking oil on your grater and you will have a no mess clean up. It is a breeze and I wish I had came upon this little tidbit years ago because I would actually avoid grating cheese for just that very reason…it was just too messy!

Clean Your Refrigerator
Posted on 03.05.09 by itscrazydelicious @

It is always a good idea to clean the inside of your refrigerator at least once a month. If you clean it once a week that is even better and less of a hassle because you are keeping up with the mess. If you have stipples or stains you may just want to try a little Epsom salt with club salt – that way you are not putting toxins in your fridge where all of your food is. If you can clean things naturally then that is best.

Baby Wipes
Posted on 01.15.09 by itscrazydelicious @

Baby wipes are great to have around…I always have them because they make for great wipes when you go out for dinner at a restaraunt and your fingers get all dirty. However, do not use these on the carpets to pick up spills. Even on the lamenate and linoleum flooring – it will leave streaks. But the carpet will actually stain because it leaves a white mark after it dries up. So you think you cleaned up the mess but it makes things worse in the long run.

Clean Up Quick!
Posted on 12.04.08 by itscrazydelicious @

I have found that if you clean up your spills right away there is little or no damage to things. You have to be quick though. Even 3 or 4 minutes of a very harsh substance could damage your carpet, floors or furniture. My husband dropped wine on the floor yesterday and I just immediately cleaned it up with some vinegar and water mixture and it came up right away…no hassle and no screaming…just cleaned it up!

Clean Your Cabinets
Posted on 11.20.08 by itscrazydelicious @

I always tend to drop things…alot. Make sure that if you drop liquid on your wooden drawers of cabinets then you clean it up. Otherwise they will get really dirty and grimy and it will be so much harder to clean later. I polish my cabinets so that it is relaly easy to clean up when I do drop stuff on them. And I do all the time. Same thing with the floor. I prefer linoleum so it is easy to clean up but as with anything if you do not do it right away it is harder. Cleaning just comes with the territory of cooking!!

Activated Charcoal
Posted on 11.18.08 by itscrazydelicious @

So you have odors in your bathroom.  Sometimes that just happens but you don’t want anyone to know about it and your guests to have to suffer.  An easy fix to get rid of the odors is tho open a box of baking soda and place it in the room but you can also put an activated piece of charcoal behind your toilet..that helps.  But you really want to find the source of the odor to truly get rid of it.

Chocolate Stains
Posted on 11.11.08 by itscrazydelicious @

I just love to find that great cleaning tip that actually works. Sometimes they don’t and other times they do. Sometimes what i think is a great tip…my mom things is ridiculous and it just doesn’t work for her. I like this one. Because Halloween is upon us…you may have lots of chocolate in your house…which may also mean that you may get chocolate stains. Here is a great tip to clean that chocolate stain…personally if the weather is cold outside I wait until it is hardened on the carpet or clothing and then scrap it off a bit. You can either then keep pouring hot water on it or blot it with hot water. You don’t want to make it bigger than it already is. Then make a mixture of one part hot water with a spoonful of neutral detergent and blot it until it is gone. You could also try a 1:8 ratio of ammonia and hot water mixture but I would not try this on darker areas…it may bleach it.

Cleaning A Chandelier
Posted on 11.09.08 by itscrazydelicious @

If you have a beautiful chandelier here is a tip my memere gave me. She had a beautiful chandelier – it was gorgeous and she always just kept it so beautiful too. She would only have to polish it once a year because every week she would feather dust it. Then before the holidays she would take it down and clean every piece – it took hours but she would dry them and polish them up with white gloves on because your finger prints will not only leave a mark but the oil on your fingers will trap dirt and grim quicker. So wear gloves!!

There is nothing worse than going out with dirty hands…not that they are dirty but you just could not get the stains off of them even after you washed them and took a shower. Here is a great tip….POTATOES! They will take the food stains right off…just slice it and rub it on the stain on your hand and rinse it off…so simple! I am always getting food coloring on my hands!
