Beer Bread
Posted on 11.16.07 by itscrazydelicious @

I am just so excited – I just got my beer bread mix in and you can use it with any carbinated drink – I may try it with root beer because I think the kids would like it better. I got the mix this time but here is the recipe. I got this recipe from Farmgirl Fare – excellent recipe!!!

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon baking powder (make sure it’s fresh!)

2 Tablespoons chopped fresh dill (or 2 teaspoons dried)
1 cup finely grated sharp cheddar cheese
12 ounces beer

Optional glaze: 1 egg & 2 teaspoons water, beaten

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, dill, and cheddar in a large mixing bowl. Slowly stir in beer and mix just until combined. Batter will be thick. Spread in a greased 8-inch loaf pan (I love my Chicago Metallic Commercial Loaf Pans–they’re great for yeast breads, too), brush with egg glaze if desired, and bake until golden brown and a toothpick stuck in the center comes out clean, about 45 minutes.

Cool in the pan on a rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool 10 more minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Bread For Gifts
Posted on 11.13.07 by itscrazydelicious @

I love to give food as gifts to certain people that I know will appreciate it. I just went to a bread party where you can buy different kinds of bread and there is one bread that I have made htat is delicious called Beer bread. But when you make food and breads for people you do not want to give them your good pans. So here is a great trick. Keep your old shoe boxes and line it with wax paper. It fits perfectly. This is great for those home made cookies also!

Honey Cake
Posted on 10.18.07 by itscrazydelicious @

Here is a great new recipe called Honey Cake. I just love honey so I thought that it would be so delicious. I have not had the time to make it yet but it looks so incredibly good. I got this Swedish 17th century recipe from a site called Pirate Recipes. So if you need other pirate like recipes then you have to check out this site because they have a lot of them for your. Arrrrrr……

1 1/2 dl of honey

4 eggs

1 dl of sugar

2 spoons (or more) of ginger

1 spoon of jamaica pepper

4 dl of wheat flour

Grease a tin about 1½ litres in size. Warm up the honey so that you can stirr it easily with a spoon. Whip up the eggs til they´re white, mix them with honey and spices. Finally stirr in flour and pour it all into the tin. Bake in oven for about 30 – 40 minutes in 175ºC. Take it out, leave it for a day and serve with butter.

Columbus Day Italian Sweet Loaf
Posted on 10.05.07 by itscrazydelicious @

So I was looking online to find something for the upcoming holiday on Monday….that being Columbus Day and low and behold I did find a recipe for an Italian Sweet Loaf which just sound so good. Actually anything with the word sweet in it just is very appealing to my taste buds :) I got this recipe from AsTray and I can not wait to try it this Saturday!!!

2 packages dry yeast
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup melted butter
2 whole eggs plus
3 egg yolks
1 tsp salt
4-1/2 cups unbleached white flour
1 egg yolk combined with:
2 tsp flour
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp water

Dissolve the yeast and brown sugar in warm water in a large mixing bowl. Set aside for about 10 minutes or until the yeast has become foamy. Stir in the butter, eggs, additional yolks and salt. Blend well.

Add the flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing well. Turn the dough out onto a floured board and knead with additional four for about 5 minutes or until the dough is elastic and not sticky. Divided the dough in half. Flatten and shape each half into a round loaf. Place on a greased baking sheet, cover loosely with aluminum
foil, and let rise in a warm, draft free place until the loaves are doubled in bulk, about 1-2 hours. Brush the egg mixture on the top of the loaves and slash twice with a sharp knife. Sprinkle with additional sugar and bake in a preheated 325F oven for 35-40 minutes. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
