I used the coffee grounds for that before, but when you're done, don't throw them out... just dump them out in your garden or flower box. Worms love them and they're great for your garden.

I used vanilla for another trick... when you're selling a home, you can put a little bit of vanilla on a piece of tin foil in a mini pie dish, or make a form of tin foil and put it into your oven. Before you have an open house, or a showing, heat up the oven and the smell of fresh baked 'something' will permeate the house. I saw that trick on a home selling website.
